Dear HopeIsInTheScience (HIITS) Registrants,
Thank you! 2 Courses. 5 Years. 2000 enrollments. Countless new ideas!
In 2013, I applied for a grant from the ASHFoundation to study the practice patterns of Speech-Language-Pathologists (SLPs) who manage dysphagia.
An aim of this grant was to conduct only ONE in-person meeting for SLPs where critical thinking skills would be both trained and examined. The inaugural Critical Thinking in Dysphagia Management (CTDM) course at Johns Hopkins University in September of 2015 was so successful, that it was subsequently offered more than 20 times throughout the world and then morphed into a very popular online course. CTDM inspired other on-line learning opportunities including the Normal Swallowing 101: Clinical Workshop, the Swallowing Training and Education Portal (STEP), and the Collecting Clinical Education Course (coming soon).
I have tremendous appreciation for ASHFoundation because they funded and promoted work that directly supports current and future medical SLPs.
To everyone who learned with HIITS, look forward to your continued training with STEP.
With Gratitude,
Ianessa Humbert, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
